Cable & roller repair · Scottsdale, AZ
Worn rollers and frayed cables, replaced right.
The door shudders on the way up. One side hangs lower than the other. Or you’ve spotted a cable fraying and you’re wondering whether to press the button one more time. Please don’t. A door that’s fighting itself needs a look, not another try.
We repair garage door cables and rollers in Scottsdale and across the Valley. Tal comes to your garage, shows you the part that’s worn, explains it plainly, replaces it and runs the door through a full cycle with you before he leaves.
Match it to your door
Is it the pulley, the cable, the spring or the track?
Look up at the top corner of your door. Four parts do the work there, and each one tells you something when it fails.
- Pulley. The cable runs over it. A wobbling or squealing pulley means the cable isn’t traveling straight.
- Cable. Broken strands, a fray or a loose loop. Cables wear from friction and from years of load, and a worn one can let one side of the door drop.
- Extension spring. The long coiled spring along the track. If it’s stretched or sagging, the door feels heavy or lifts unevenly.
- Track. Bent, dirty or out of line, it makes rollers bind and the door judder or jump.
Not sure which one you’re looking at? Tell us what the door does, and we’ll sort it out when we’re there. You can also read about garage door repair more broadly.
Old vs new
Greasy steel out, smooth nylon in.
An old steel roller gets gritty, flat-spotted and caked in oil. You hear it as rattling and grinding, and the door feels rough in the track. A new nylon roller rolls quietly and runs clean.
Slide the handle and see the difference. Replacing worn rollers is also how we stop them dragging on the track and pulling the door out of line. If you want the roller-only job, see roller replacement .

Work ticket · Price
What affects the price, explained before we start.
You shouldn’t have to guess at a bill. Before any work begins, we tell you what the job involves and why. These are the things that move it:
- How many rollers are worn, and whether it’s a few or the whole door.
- The cable condition: one frayed cable or both, and whether the drums or pulleys are damaged.
- Alignment: whether the track needs adjusting once the new parts are in.
- Connected parts: an extension spring that’s worn alongside the cable.
You hear it first, you say yes, then we start. No surprises at the end.

“We had a great experience with Red Crest Garage Door. We recently had our garage door done and we’re very happy with how everything turned out. The whole process was smooth, they were professional, easy to work with, and the final result looks great. Everything was done nicely and exactly as we expected. Definitely recommend them!”

Questions before you book
Don’t force a cabled door. Call us first, anywhere in the Valley, and tell us what it’s doing. Or send the details and we’ll come to you.
01 Is it safe to keep using a door with a frayed cable?
We’d stop. A frayed cable can slip or break, and forcing the door can make the damage worse. Call (602) 898-8558 and we’ll tell you what to do until we get there.
02 How do I know if it’s the rollers or the cable?
Rattling, grinding or a jerky ride usually points to rollers. A door hanging crooked or a loose, fraying cable points to the cable. We check both on the visit and show you the worn part.
03 What decides the price?
The number of rollers, the cable condition, alignment and any connected parts like an extension spring. We explain these before we start. See more on our services page .
04 Do you come to Scottsdale and nearby?
Yes. We’re based in Scottsdale and go to your garage across the Valley, including Phoenix , Mesa and Glendale . See all areas we serve .
05 Are you licensed and insured?
Yes: licensed and insured, ROC 366197.
